Thirty years ago, East Lyme became more than just a place to live — it became home. Here, my two daughters were born and raised, and are now proud graduates of our school system. One has earned a bachelor’s degree, and the other is currently thriving as a sophomore at the University of Rhode Island. Their educational journey through Lillie B. Haynes, East Lyme Middle School, and our High School gave me firsthand experience with the exceptional quality of our schools and the dedicated educators who shape our children's futures.
Over the past four years, I have had the honor of serving on the East Lyme Board of Education for which I am presenting myself as a candidate for re-election. I serve on various Board of Education Committees, including Chair of the Policy Review Committee and member of the Facilities Asset Management, Secretaries Personnel Policy, Custodial Personnel Policy, and Salem Co-Operative Ad-Hoc Committees.
My commitment to East Lyme’s excellence in education extends beyond Board meetings. Each year, I participate in continuing education through the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE). This allows me to stay current on educational trends, legislation, and best practices. When the Board of Education engages in discussions and decision-making, my approach is to listen to understand. I have a collaborative communication style that has helped me connect with parents, administrators, and community members and work effectively with our Board Chair, Superintendent, and fellow Board members to advance our shared mission and goals.
My professional background spans both education and the pharmaceutical industry. I began my career as an English and Literature middle school teacher before transitioning industries, working at Pfizer for many years and with Daiichi Sankyo since 2021, with roles focused on strategic projects, procedures, and project and change management. My experience is supported by my educational background. I hold a BA from the University of Connecticut, a Masters in Education from the University of New Haven, and a Masters in Organizational Leadership from Quinnipiac University.
What I find most rewarding about Board service is witnessing the tangible outcomes of our collective efforts—seeing students succeed, programs flourish, and our community's investment in education pay dividends, all helping to make East Lyme's schools one of our community's greatest assets.
Outside of my professional and Board of Education roles, I love beach time, listening to local musicians, attending concerts, reading, and any activity involving my daughters.
I am committed to building on our Town’s strong foundation while advancing our school district with fiscal responsibility, adapting to change and addressing challenges, and listening to our community to ensure every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
