Sandra Bullock
for Board of Finance
4-year term
4-year term
I have been a resident of East Lyme for 53 years, having moved from New London, Connecticut where I was born. After graduating from New London High School, I entered civil service and worked for the Navy at the Subase in New London/Groton. Until my retirement in 2005, I worked for 20 years for Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, first as an Admitting Coordinator and later as a Certified Health Unit Coordinator.
Currently I serve as Vice-Chair of the East Lyme Historic Properties Commission and am seeking to be a member of our Town’s Board of Finance. From 2012-2024, I served as a Board Member for the Samuel Smith Farmstead and held the positions of Historian and Curator for the organization. Since 2005, I have served our community as a Justice of the Peace.
I believe that the Town needs to be well managed and that the Board of Finance’s oversight of the Town budget and financial matters is key to good management and responsible spending of taxpayer dollars. All of my many years of work experience and extensive volunteer efforts in the community have prepared me for this service.
In addition to my current service on the Historic Properties Commission, I am Senior Vice President of the American Legion Auxiliary, Tinker Turner Post 128 in Niantic. I serve on the East Lyme Veterans Council, representing the American Legion and am a member of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kari Hill Post 5859 in Niantic. Recently, I reorganized the Jonathan Brooks Society, National Society Children of the American Revolution, where I serve as Senior President. I am a Member and Honorary Regent of Lucretia Shaw Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (after serving two terms as President there), as well as President of the Fort Saybrook Chapter, National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century. I previously served as Connecticut State President of the Colonial Dames, and oversaw seven DAR chapters as the Southeast District Director of the Connecticut State Society, Daughters of the American Revolution.
I was married to William (Benn) Bullock II for 20 years. He died in 2024. I reside with my rescues: Cooper (guard dog extraordinaire) and two felines, Finn and Maisie. In addition to my public service to the Town and other volunteer activities, I enjoy gardening and decorating. I am blessed to have many dear friends and family members to share time with. I look forward to the opportunity to serve our residents as a member of the Board of Finance and ask for your vote in the upcoming election.
