Scott Fraser
for Treasurer
4-year term
4-year term
As a lifelong resident of East Lyme, my commitment to public service began over 45 years ago when I joined the Flanders Fire Department as a junior member. That early experience started a deep and lasting dedication to our community.
After graduating from East Lyme High School, I enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and completed my service in 1987. I earned a BS in Business Administration in 1993 from Eastern Connecticut State University.
In 1987, following my military service, I founded Fraser Commercial Services, a building maintenance company. I continue to serve as President of the company that now employs nearly 100 people throughout the region.
Nearly 30 years ago, I was honored to be elected to the East Lyme Board of Finance, where I also served as Chairman. This role deepened my commitment to fiscal responsibility and laid the groundwork for continued involvement in town government.
Dedicated to financial stewardship, I have proudly served as East Lyme’s Town Treasurer for the past 10 years, and as Deputy Treasurer for the 5 years prior. In the non-partisan role of Treasurer, I work closely with the Finance Department to oversee financial operations including debt management, investments, and long-term planning. I also review disbursements, monitor fund balances, and collaborate with town leadership to maintain East Lyme’s strong fiscal health and outstanding bond rating. I take great pride in promoting transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the management of taxpayer dollars.
In addition to my duties as Town Treasurer, I have served as Treasurer for the Darrows Ridge Homeowners Association since 2020. I previously served as Treasurer and Board of Trustees Chairman for Flanders Baptist and Community Church, as well as Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair of the Rope Ferry Commons Condo Association.
My roots in East Lyme run deep; my family has lived in the villages of Niantic and Flanders for seven generations. My grandfather helped found the Flanders Fire Department nearly 80 years ago. I’ve had the privilege of contributing to major projects like the East Lyme Middle School Design Committee and the Niantic Bay Boardwalk. I’ve also enjoyed serving on the East Lyme Little League Board of Directors as a Player Agent, Coach, and Team Manager.
Today, I continue to call East Lyme home and raise my family here. My son, Alex, recently graduated from Quinnipiac, and my daughter, Maddie, is studying chemical engineering at Clemson University. East Lyme is more than just my hometown; it’s where my values were shaped, where I’ve built a life, and where I remain deeply committed to serving our community. I respectfully ask for your vote and look forward to continuing to serve our Town as Treasurer.
