Don Phimister

I have been a resident of East Lyme for 25 years and am the Dad of two young men.

I retired from state service in 2011 as a Forensic Nurse due to a disability acquired during my service at Whiting Forensic Division at Connecticut Valley Hospital. Currently, I am employed by General Dynamics Electric Boat as a Systems Engineer.

I initially started in town service by volunteering in 2007. I coached various sports for the Parks and Recreation Department.  Later, in 2016, I recovered from my injuries and was inspired to do more.  In the summer of that year, I started in town government as an alternate on the Planning Commission. Once there, I volunteered to do more.  I began with the challenge to improve town sidewalks.  Over the years, I have held seats by vote or appointment for the Planning Commission and Inland Wetlands Agency.  Currently, I am serving as Vice Chair of the East Lyme Inlands Wetlands Agency.

I believe in conservation and mindful use of our natural resources, particularly as they relate to our watershed and our open space, to protect and manage these resources for the town of East Lyme.  I support policies and efforts for the community at large and believe in the practice of sacrifice for the greater good.  With your support, I hope to continue my service to the community as a member of the Planning Commission.
