Lauren McNamara
Lauren McNamara is an East Lyme native and 2007 graduate of East Lyme High School.
After high school, Lauren attended the College of the Holy Cross where she was an English major and involved in a variety of community service organizations. It was this commitment to community service that led her to apply and participate in Teach for America.
As part of the Teach for America program, Lauren taught middle school English in New Orleans, Louisiana for three years. While she loved New Orleans, she wanted to be closer to her family in Connecticut. Lauren subsequently joined a team of ten educators in founding a middle school in Brooklyn, New York. At this school, she taught English for two years before becoming an Academic Dean. Lauren enjoyed working in education, but ultimately decided that she wanted to pursue her goal of attending law school and joining her father’s practice in East Lyme.
In 2018, Lauren attended Seton Hall Law School and focused her studies on business law and contract law. In the summers, she interned with the New Jersey Attorney General's Office and in the corporate division of a private firm. Further, she continued her love of teaching and working with children by volunteering with True Mentors, a tutoring organization in Hoboken, New Jersey.
After graduating from law school, Lauren returned to East Lyme and joined her father’s practice, McNamara & McNamara P.C. Lauren currently lives in Niantic with her husband, Casey and two-year old daughter, Rory.
Lauren has served on the Board of Finance for the past two years and looks forward to continuing to serve the East Lyme community in this capacity.
