Anne Thurlow

Anne Thurlow, a 15 year resident of East Lyme, developed a love for the Town many years ago, spending summer vacations at her grandparents’ home in Crescent Beach.  Born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri, she attended California College of the Arts (formerly CCAC) where she earned a BFA in Design.

Her 30-year career at Hallmark Cards, Inc. included designing everything from greeting cards and gift products to exhibition spaces at the Javits Center.  She managed internal art departments, traveled internationally to develop new products, partnered with MIT Media Lab for R&D, and in Licensing, partnered with the creative teams of many companies, including Disney, Warner Bros, Mattel and Nickelodeon.

After moving to Niantic, she did interior design work at Saybrook Home while starting a real estate career.  For the past 10 years she has worked locally as a residential real estate agent, currently with Coldwell Banker.

Anne has been active in town government in various capacities, including serving on the Planning Commission, Board of Tax Assessment Appeals, and the Zoning Commission - first as an alternate, then as a full-time board member and is currently the chairman.

As a child, she filled any open floor space, from her bedroom to under her mom’s grand piano with mini towns, using shoe boxes for buildings.  Her interest in helping to create a responsibly developed yet charming town continues here in East Lyme.  With an eye for design, a knowledge of local real estate, and a passion for our community, she is running again for the East Lyme Zoning Commission.
