Candice Carlson

Meet Candice Carlson, candidate for the East Lyme Board of Selectmen.

Candice Carlson has lived in East Lyme for over 23 years.  She has proudly served on the Town’s Board of Education since 2012 and is now seeking election to our Board of Selectmen.  Candice has a 30-year career in social services, is married, and has 2 children in our East Lyme schools.

She first served as the Enrollment Director with The Creative Pre-School from 2010-2011, and as PTA President at Lillie B. Haynes Elementary School in 2012.  For her work with the PTA, Candice earned the CABE Volunteerism Award.  Later in 2012, she was appointed to the East Lyme Board of Education.  As a member of that Board, Candice was honored with the Rosemary Littlefield Award in 2016 for outstanding volunteering efforts within the school community and, most recently, CABE’S 2022/2023 Certificated Board of Education Member Designation. 

She has served as Secretary to our Board of Education, and Chair of the Academic, Athletic, Activities Committee.  In addition, Candice has chaired the Teachers Negotiations Committee, and serves on the Custodial Negotiations, Salem Co-Operative, Spiral Ad-Hoc, and Non-Lapsing Education Account Ad-Hoc committees. 

Candice is committed to putting “people before politics” by making good decisions for the betterment of our community to maintain the level of excellence that East Lyme is known for.  Candice has displayed proven leadership through her relatability, balanced, bipartisan collaboration, and understanding of parents’ perspectives.  She has been instrumental in advancing our school district into the 21st century, taking a forward-thinking approach while remaining true to the uniqueness that makes our community so incredibly special. 

Candice is invested and ingrained within East Lyme as a parent and as an active community member.  She serves with integrity, honesty, character and immeasurable dedication to her community, and she will bring those qualities to the East Lyme Board of Selectmen.  A true champion for everything East Lyme--a vote to elect Candice Carlson to represent our community is a "WIN" for East Lyme.
